Technicians verify refrigerant charge with superheat and subcooling, since low airflow can mimic charge problems. Outside, keep the condenser coil clean so head pressure stays reasonable. Dust and cottonwood seeds can build up quickly on the fins and steal capacity you paid for.
Desert-Specific Aftercare: Dust, Monsoon Moisture, and Rooftop Exposure
Our climate adds maintenance chores that protect airflow. After a dust storm, rinse the condenser coil from the inside out with low-pressure water. Power washing can fold fins. Clear debris from the base to keep condenser fan airflow unobstructed. Replace or clean filters more often than the generic 90-day guidance if you see visible dust loading. When a home stays stubbornly warm late in the day, more tonnage is not always the answer.
